How To Join

How To Join A Sheen Lions Team

It Is Best To Approach Us in May

League football starts in September but we select and register our squads for the coming season in May, June and July at the end of the previous season.

Players that will be U5, U6, U7, U8, U9, U10, U11 or U12 in the following season should join our Summer Soccer Six program to trial. For these age groups Summer Soccer Six is the best way to try Sheen Lions.

Existing members of the club will be automatically invited to SS6. For New members,  please see current notices on recruitment for a link to be placed on a waiting list.

During May or June, if you will be U12 or above in the following season you should contact a manager in your current age group directly to arrange a trial. Please use email for your enquiries, our managers are volunteers and not usually available on the phone.

From September, During the Season

In the first instance all age groups must complete a short application form to be placed on a waiting list to be invited to trial. See our current notices on recruitment for the latest information and a link to the application form.

All current initiatives in relation to recruitment and open days will be announced in the News section of our website.

How Teams Work

A few words about how teams work:

  • In each groups we run a number of teams which will be playing at different divisional levels suited to squad strength.
We arrange for all teams in an age group to train next to each other and they often do joint sessions. All players in an age group will get to know each other as some will likely switch squad as they develop.
  • Training for U7-U11 age groups takes place at Palewell Common on Saturday mornings whereas training for the U12-U18 teams takes place on weekdays in the evening under floodlights.
  • Matches are played on Sundays.
  • The official season runs from September to early May.

Getting Involved

Sheen Lions FC exists exclusively for the benefit of children. To get your boy and other young boys into football perhaps running a young development squad might be something for you? Youth football is entirely based on the active involvement of parent volunteers.

If you would like to help starting a development squad we would like to hear from you. Sheen Lions will provide the coaching setup just as long as you will take an active role in recruiting and organising your squad. For inquiries please contact:
