Coaching Qualifications

At Sheen Lions all of our coaches hold FA coaching qualifications, typically FA Level 2 and higher. Several team managers also hold FA Level 1 or 2 coaching badges. Many of our older teams are managed on match days by their coach.

The FA recommended ratio is 1 coach to 16 players. We aim to not exceed 1:15 in our younger age groups.

We also have a specialist goal keeping coach to take sessions for the junior and older keepers.

Whilst most of our coaches have many years of experience we also like to get young, recently qualified coaches on board. Most often a coach remains with the same team for years whereby both coach and team develop together to mutual benefit.

All our managers are all DBS checked and as a Charter Standard Club they have to hold valid FA recognised Safeguarding Children and Emergency Aid certificates.
The club encourages all our managers to achieve their Level 1 coaching status.
