Sheen Lions Summer Soccer Six 2024

Once again Sheen Lions F.C. will be running its popular Summer Soccer Six programme. It’s a great opportunity for managers to look at players, old and new, with a view to making team selections for next season.

The initial booking period for U08, U09 and U09G completed on Monday 22nd April.

The booking period for U10 and U11 Boys is now open and will close on Friday 26th April at 3pm.
All existing members and fully registered prospective members have been emailed an invite with booking instructions. Check your Spam if you have not seen it.

The booking period for U07 and younger is now Open.

Children to wear appropriate attire INCLUDING SHIN PADS and should bring refreshments (no fizzy drinks or sweets).

  • Current Sheen Lions players must wear their Sheen Lions training kit.
  • Prospective players do not need Sheen Lions kit
  • You MUST have boots, they should be suitable for hard ground, moulded or short studs.
  • You MUST have shin pads
  • If we are lucky you may need sun protection
  • If we are not you will need a rain jacket and maybe a sweat shirt

Payment must be received at the time of booking to reserve a place. The Fee will be £55 regardless of how many of the six sessions you can attend. Payment instructions will be on your invitation email and payment must be made at the time of booking to reserve your place.

If you are approaching from the east or the A3 you will find it easier to park in Bank Lane, Roehampton and use the eastern entrance to Palewell Common as indicated on the map. If you are approaching from the west or the A316 it is easier to park on Palewell Common Drive.

PLEASE NOTE that cars double/tripled parked on this road are likely to incur fines, as these roads are patrolled by parking officials. Roads must be kept clear for emergency vehicles to gain access.

Preparing Sheen Lions For 2024-25

During June and July we sign up most of the players for the teams that we will run next season in age groups U9 and older.

To understand how our Club works please read Understanding Sheen Lions.

For the time being this notice refers to the 2023-24 (current season) age groups. So for example, if you are currently an U12 you need to email JoinU12@sheenlions.org even though you are hoping to joint the U13 for next season. If you are a boy hoping to join our U12 for next season you are currently an U11 and your route in is through Summer Soccer Six as described below.

Age Groups U09 and Younger, U10 Boys, U11 Boys

The opportunity to join Sheen Lions for season 2023-24 is now passed.

Your first opportunity to get a taster of the Club will be to attend our Summer Soccer Six program in June and July 2024. To register your interest please complete the short application form available here.

Age Groups U10 Girls, U11 Girls

U11 Girls will trial with U11G squad on Friday evenings in June . To register your interest please email JoinU11@sheenlions.org

Age Groups U12 up to U18

You must first enquire by email to the managers in your age group ( 2023-24 age group). We will be trialling players at mid week Roslyn Park training in June.

  • Your Email must include:
    • Player’s Full Name
    • Player’s date of birth
    • email address of one or both parents
    • A brief summary of football experience indicating the level reached

U7 Win West Drayton Youth Summer Tournament 2023

Following Sheen Lions U7 impressive performance at the Sandgate FC youth tournament where they placed 2nd, the Lions U7 took it one step further in only their second attempt to win the West Drayton Youth Summer Tournament 2023. We are incredibly proud of the boys.

U7s Runners up – Sandgate Youth Tournament

On Sunday June 25th Sheen Lions entered the Sandgate FC youth tournament 2023 for their first competitive competition. Out of 35 teams the Lions roared to the final. Unfortunately they fell just short of first place. We are incredibly proud of the boys for coming Runners Up in the cup in one of the most competitive and popular events in the calendar year!

A truly fantastic effort from a special group of boys.

A big thank you to coach Michael, Bruno & Andrew for their efforts & getting the boys competing at such a high level. A big big thank to Ely for organising it for the players & guiding them to the final.

Sheen Lions Children In Need 2023

Sheen Lions FC has supported Children In Need over the years and is delighted to support it once again.

In addition, Sheen Lions FC has also donate to FareShare, the charity Marcus Rashford has supported, helping to feed children around the country.

On Saturday 18th November the following amounts were achieved.

  • The U6s tournament raised £295.00
  • The U7s tournament raised £305.00
  • The U8s tournament raised £405.00
  • Total £1005.00

At Sunday Matches

  • Sunday 26th November £5.00

Total Donated to Children In Need £1,185

The club has also donated £1.00 for every player member to Fare/Share.

Sheen Lions Children In Need 2023

Sheen Lions FC has supported Children In Need over the years and is delighted to support it once again.

  • On Sunday 19th November, for every goal scored and every clean sheet kept, the club will donate the following for the U9s through to U18s

  • £5.00 for every goal scored
  • £10.00 for every clean sheet

Managers/Coaches…keep accurate scores please.

It’s a really good incentive for all the players to do their bit, feel involved and help contribute.

Palewell Closed Saturday 4th Sunday 5th

Continental Landscapes, on behalf of Richmond Council, have closed our pitches due the very wet weather to date and the predicted weather for Saturday, in order to protect the pitches.

There will be no Saturday training of home matches on Sunday. Be aware that it is unlikely but possible that your home match could become an away match. Your manager will inform you.

Football Boots – Donations Needed 2023

Once again we will support KitAid and donate used football shirts and football boots.
I’m sure most children will have had new boots for this season so please dig out all those used ones not needed any more. All sizes are welcome. They need to be in pairs and CLEAN please.

Monday 9th October to Friday 20th October.

Joining Sheen Lions For Season 2023-24

The League season 2023-24 will run from Sunday 10th September 2023 until Sunday 12th May 2024. During June and July we have signed up most of the players for the teams that we will run next season in age groups U9 and older.

Age Groups U10 and Younger

Trial once Season Starts

You are able to join the club.

If you are interested in joining the Club in the first instance please complete the short application form available here.

We will then invite you to register to trial. Depending on the age group you are trialling for a place in a match squad but this could also be termed as a taster as you can join as a training member regardless. Note that especially in the older age groups (U08 up) we may not be able to invite you to trial immediately. Demand to join Sheen Lions is very high and we do strictly keep the ratio of coaches to players within the limits set by the FA, our Saturday groups are very close to capacity and additional coaches of the required standard are hard to find.

Age Groups U11 up to U18

Match squads are largely established but there may be places available for players of a good standard.

You must first enquire by email to the managers in your age group ( 2023-24 age group) asking if they wish to trial you. If they do then they will arrange for you to be invited to trial. This is a trial, if you cannot be offered a place in a match squad then you cannot join the club, we do not have training only players in these age groups.
