Donate Your Old Boots

kits4causes_logo

Just bought a lovely new pair of football boots for the new season?

You can help SHEEN LIONS FC support KITS 4 CAUSES

by donating your old footie boots.

Simply clean them, tie them together with the laces and

take them before the end of September to:

David Hughes, 75 Temple Sheen Road SW14 7RS

(just leave them in the green round bin at side of the house)

We’ll do the rest.

Many thanks for your support.

Yes please to:  Clean football boots and astros

No thanks to:   Trainers, socks, shin pads

Your support, however large or small, can make a real difference. Your donated boots will be the first ever pair worn by disadvantaged children and will offer a generation of young people affected by poverty, poor health and lack of opportunity a new sense of hope, pride and ambition for themselves and for their country.

Thank you.

Player Registrations For 2014-15 – Individual Registrations Now Open

The League have now made Individual Registration Forms available for 2014-15 and so the registration process is now open again.

The Registration Confirmation email will have a SYL Individual Registration form attached and this must be signed and returned along with all the other required paperwork.

Player Registrations For 2014-15 – Currently Closed

We have now visited the League to register our teams for 2014-15 so currently you cannot register for Sheen Lions.

In late August or early September, once the league open their Individual Player registration form for 2014-15 we will be able to add a few boys to our squads and registrations will reopen for those invited at that time.

If you have any queries at this time you should contact the manager of the team you hope to join. Contact details are on the appropriate team page on SheenLions.com.

It is a massive amount of work to register the boys each season. We have received 317 registrations across 12 age groups and our Secretary will be registering 18 teams with the league today with U8 teams to follow later.

Senior Teams – Start Of Season Dates

Official Sheen Lions training for team that train mid week (U12 to U18) will start at the Bank of England Sports Centre in the week beginning Monday 1st September 2014 and runs through until early May 2015 with some holiday breaks. Details are on your team page.

  • Tue 2/9 – U15, U18
  • Thu 4/9 – U16
  • Fri 5/9 – U12, U13, U14

It is likely that your Manager and Coach will arrange pre-season activity in August before official training starts. Teams have to finance this themselves. Look out for announcements from your Manager.

The league season kicks off for all age groups except U8 on Sunday 14th September 2014. The season closes at the latest on 10th May 2015.

Sarah Street Receives The Bill Nash Award 2014

The Surrey Youth League (originally The West Surrey Boys League) was founded in 1966 by a group of enthusiasts. Bill Nash was one of the founder members, he became a life vice president of the league and remained involved until his death in 2013.

In memory of Bill the league decided to commission a cup to be awarded to a worthy recipient each year. The League awards the cup to an “Unsung Hero”, someone from our clubs who perhaps goes unnoticed but who has over the years dedicated a lot of time and effort into ensuring young people can enjoy participation in football.

Every one at Sheen Lions is absolutely thrilled that this year the League has made the Bill Nash Award to our Club Secretary Sarah Street. We all know what a huge amount of time and energy Sarah has dedicated to youth football over many years and she fully deserves this recognition.

Sheen Lions U9s Enjoy Staines

Sheen Lions U9 - Staines Tournament 2014

Sheen Lions U9 – Staines Tournament 2014

Our U9 squads had a very enjoyable day at the Staines tournament on Sunday.

U9 Pride did not loose a game and only conceded one goal in the tournament but just missed out on a semi final on goal difference.

U9 Lions won all 7 of their games without conceding a goal, a tremendous performance, and so were convincing winners and very well behaved throughout.

Well done to both Lions and Pride and their managers Simon and Peter.

Another U14 Award

The awards just keep coming for our U14 age group this season. Already runners up in the championship division  and with many of the age group in the Ibstock squad that won the English Small Schools national cup they were given the Under 14 Sportsmanship Award at last night’s Surrey Youth League AGM.

It is fantastic that, not only have they played football to such a good standard this season but they are acknowledged to have played it in a sporting manner. The award is decided on the votes of all the teams the boys play against in the league so they are a great credit to Sheen Lions.

Sheen Lions U14 boys in ESFA win

A huge congratulations from all at Sheen Lions to Ibstock Place School.

ESFA U14 Small Schools Champions

ESFA U14 Small Schools Champions

Ibstock’s U14 squad won the English Schools FA Small Schools Cup this week (Wednesday 21st May) at Reading FC’s Madejski Stadium. They beat Blacon High School from Chester 3-2  in a very tight hard fought match.  The boys competed in seven rounds with 112 teams from all across the country to get to the final.

The Ibstock squad included no less than nine Sheen Lions U14 players, four boys were from the U14 Lions squad and five from the U14 Pride squad. Sheen Lions is very proud of you all.

U14 Lions Are Runners Up In The Championship Division

Congratulations to our U14 Lions. A tight 1-0 win on the last day of the season was needed to stay ahead of Chipstead and secure the runners up spot in the U14 Championship Division and the opportunity to play in the Premier division next season.

Congratulations to Mel, Abs and more importantly the boys themselves!
