The Surrey County Cup remains one of the most prestigious and competitive Youth cup competitions in the South of England, with will in excess of 100 Surrey teams competing in most age groups from Under 11 to Under 18. With the tournament progressing to the later stages, Sheen Lions remains well represented across a number of age groups. Three teams have now reached the last 16 in their respective age groups, following convincing victories in the last 32.

  • The Under 13’s continued their impressive form with their third consecutive 9 goal feast in the competition, following a 9-1 victory over Corinthian Casuals.
  • The Under 14 Pride had similar success with a convincing 6-1 victory over Frensham Boys.
  • Last but not least the Under 18’s marched on into the next round with a 3 -1 victory against kew Association.

Good luck to all the teams in the next round that takes place over the weekends of 10th and 17th of January.

RULES:

(DD) A Team being unable to supply a home venue for whatever reason (frost, snow, waterlogged or
double booked pitch, cancelled by groundsman or referee etc) must inform the Fixture Secretary and MUST offer their opponents
the opportunity to play the game at their opponents ground on that day, if the kick-off time can be arranged within 1 hour of the original time set by the team whose pitch is unavailable. In these circumstances, if the fixture is reversed and neither Team have played each other, it will be classed as the opponent’s home fixture. Where the Teams have already played any additional costs incurred (i.e. pitch fees) must be agreed by both Teams (or in default of agreement determined by the Fixtures Secretary) prior to the fixture being reversed. In circumstances of this nature, the Fixture Secretary must be informed.

(GG) If neither Team have played each other and an application is made to the Fixture Secretary by any Team for a ‘fixture reversal’ of their first fixture, this must be formally approved by the Fixture Secretary before any other arrangements are made. In these circumstances the home Team will be responsible for the costs of the pitch supplied. This applies to both League and Cup matches.

Managers Complete FA Emergency Aid Course

On the evening of Wednesday 11th the FA ran a two hour course on Emergency Aid at the Bank of England attended by all Sheen Lions Managers and Assistants.

Though this course is a component of the FA level 1 coaching certification many of our Sheen Lions coaches also attended: taking the opportunity to refresh their certification.

Obtaining this certification for each manager is one of the final steps we need to take before submitting our Charter application.

Emergency aid covers the recommended procedures to preserve the life of a person until profesional help arrives. Significantly it is now the procedure to assume that a casulty is not circulating if they are not breathing and so to start CPR immediately in this circumstance.

Managers Complete Safeguarding Children FA Learning Course

U12s Win Bouremouth Classic

A FANTASTIC performance and another trophy for the Under 12 squad. Over the Bank Holiday they won the Bournemouth Classic trophy in style beating 12 teams from all over the country.

It was also both a great thrill and honour for the boys to receive the Cup from Harry Redknapp and to see BERTIE lift the cup.

The U12 won 2-0 in the final against Ruislip Rangers with both goals from Scott.

U12 Win Claygate 6 a Side

On Saturday the U12s won the Claygate 6-a-side.

They started slowly at the league stage with two 0-0 draws with Wembley and Kingstonian but won the last game 1-0 v Netherne Falcons B side to qualify top of the group. Scott scoring the only Sheen goal of the group.

Goals were hard to come by and a 2-0 quarter final win v Brunswick (Luke x 2 – both penalties) put the U12s into the semi final.

The semi final v Bromley was the toughest game and a 1-0 victory (Ben M) was sufficient.

The final against Netherne Falcons “A” was one way traffic . Netherne are a good side having been champions of the Premier League this season but we totally dominated the game without finding the net. The game went into golden goal extra time and a great Ben M goal confirmed us as Champions once again.

U14s Are League Champions

After a long season the U14s went into their final match of the season against the current leaders and top scorers, Links needing to win by a three goal margin to beat them to the league title.

A strong performance saw Sheen run up a 5-0 lead with Links getting a late consolation the final score of 5-1 made Sheen Champions.

Well done.

U16 Win League Title

In a thrilling game today, the U16s drew 2-2 with KPR, scoring the equaliser in the last minute, earning themselves a point, and the League title.

Well done to everyone involved with team.

C’mon you Lions !!!!!!!!!!!
